Score of the Week! (#11)

Soooo… I’m just going to say it upfront:  This is like, the clip show version of the “Score of the Week!” posts.  It’s all of the leftovers from other thrift store hauls that I left out of past posts for brevity and whatnot.   I haven’t been to a thrift store in weeks.  Nary a yard sale.  No flea markets.  Nowhere, really….

Painty Scores

Painty Scores

Well, okay, that is not 100% true, I *did* go to my favorite Ace Hardware and get a gallon of Ben for the guest room, all of which is awesomesauce.   I’m almost ready to paint in there, and I love having the paint already.  But– while I was there, they had a whole table of clearance oops paints, and I scored a wee Benjamin Moore sample can of “Peach Sorbet” for a buck!  A buck!  I have *no idea* where I plan on using this paint yet, but as I was choosing between a pale green and a soft peach for the guest room, its totally cool finding some for only a dollar.  But in all honesty, that is the only one of these scores that is recent.  So, onward!

Sturdy Scoop

Sturdy Scoop

Next up is an ice cream scoop that I got for fifty cents at my favorite little out-of-the-way thrift shop.  Its cream colored plastic but very sturdy, this is a trait I need in scoops.  I also like that is has no metal or working parts, for some reason I always end up with one that’s rusty somewhere in the works and it gaums up the whole scooping process.  I’ve managed to use this one since purchasing, and I like it a lot.  It plows through the creamy crud like nobody’s business.  Yeah, its kinda boring.  But fifty cents is a pretty awesome score for a life upgrade, when you really think about it!

Tiny Fiesta-Like Teacups

Tiny Fiesta-Like Teacups

Next up is a set of tiny child’s teacups, missing some parts but still sooo cute.  I don’t have a daughter, I don’t need these anymore than, say, I need a set of antlers, but yannow, sooo cute.  And only a buck!  I’m sure that eventually I’ll just have the yellow and green set in the dining room display with my chartreuse and yellow pottery, and the other parts will be sprouting herbs and cradling tealights and the like elsewhere in the house.

Annnnd speaking of the chartreuse and yellow pottery, I got a smallish yellow planter at the church rummage sale a few weeks back. It has a creamy glaze on top that is dotty-pocked in a cool way.  On the bad side, it’s got some water deposits and it is really heavily crazed, but it couldn’t pass it up for the price.  It had a dollar on it, but we were past the half-off point, so it was fifty cents, and ya’ll know that is unreal for vintage pottery.  Its pictured below with some of my other collected pieces, and the texture of the design is really complimentary with what I’ve got going on.  And I have enough pieces that *are* really, really nice that I think I can throw focus away from this one in a collected display.

Chartreuse Napkins

Chartreuse Napkins

A tiny yellow and green teacup would be cute nestled in amongst this stuff, right?  So like I said, I’ve been amassing a lot of yellow, lime, and chartreuse for my someday dining room, and I think I will be getting to working on it someday sooner rather than later, which is fantastic.   I’m kinda always on the lookout for certain things for certain rooms, and with the goodies I’ve been finding for the dining room lately, its like the big, invisible, magic eight ball in the sky is saying, “ALL SIGNS POINT TO YES” when it comes to the dining room.  As evidence, I present exhibit C.  “C” for chartreuse linen napkins, only two of them, but still so fabulous.  Fifty cents!  I’m a BIG fan of fabric napkins, we used to use them constantly, and since the move I haven’t gotten back to using them again.  I want to though, I love how environmentally friendly they are– its really easy to just toss a few extra bits of fabric into the wash, I don’t feel like it adds much of anything to the laundry load.

So, yeah!  Apologies on the ‘old’ items, but I will try and get out and catch some fresh fun sometime in the next week or so….  So tell me, have you found anything amazing lately?
